Meeting a person the first time, some people pay attention to the shoes, others look at the neatness of the clothes, and some look at the nails and manicures. It is very important that your nails are always well-groomed and beautiful. But nail care is very difficult and can take a lot of personal time. Therefore, many modern fashionistas often resort to the help of beauty salons or individual masters who apply persistent gel varnishes. This coverage can please women up to one month. At the same time, such materials do not require additional care or processing.

What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?

By its structure, acrylic is a powdery substance that is stirred in a special solution and rolled into balls. After that, the master uses special tools to transfer this substance to the nails and give them a certain shape. It can be natural, that is, look like a normal nail, and may differ, be pointed, or Vice versa blunt at the end. All this depends on the client’s desire.

Acrylic can last on the nail plate for up to several weeks. There are also certain correction procedures that extend the life of acrylic for a period of 10 to 14 days.

Gel varnish is a substance that practically does not differ from the usual varnish. It has a denser structure and lasts longer on the nail plate. It is very rarely used for building, so it is most often applied to ready-made, prepared nails, which are given a certain shape in advance.

What kind of gel nails are

Gel Polish is unique tool that is used by fashionistas all over the world to decorate their nails. Its peculiarity is that one application of this tool is enough for several weeks. Therefore, girls do not need to spend a lot of time on hand care anymore. There are several types of this substance.

Gel powder

A fairly popular type of coating is powder. Often it serves as a base for the main gel Polish. That is, it hides imperfections and irregularities of the nails, and also strengthens their structure. It is quite easy to apply. Also, unlike conventional gel Polish, you do not need to use an ultraviolet lamp to dry the powder.

The powder itself consists of two components: the first is a powder, which is based on acrylic, and the second is a gel that acts as a fixer of this powder.

Bio sculpture gel

There was an alternative to chemical treatment of nails. It is the Biogel. The composition of this substance includes only natural substances, minerals and vitamins. Instead of destroying the nail structure, they nourish and restore the structure of the nail plate. There is also such a thing as a sculptural Biogel. This is the same drug as the previous one, but with a less viscous structure. With this substance, experts can easily build up nails. And the result is no worse than when using conventional chemical elements.

Gel for extension

At the moment, nail extension using gel Polish is a very popular procedure. This procedure has gained such popularity due to a number of advantages, including:

  • Availability. Unlike other ways to increase nails, almost every fashionista can afford it.
  • High quality material. Nails, extended by using gel, have a very strong structure and almost never break.
  • Surface correction. When using this procedure, the nail surface becomes perfectly smooth, since the gel is able to penetrate even the smallest crack.
  • Provides oxygen access. This material has a unique structure that allows the nail plate to breathe.
  • Additional protection. The gel coating provides almost 100% protection of the nail plate from the negative influence of the environment.

How long do gel nails last?

The time that the varnish will please you depends on the quality of the materials. So, the average life of the gel is 2 weeks. But if you believe the press releases of famous brands for the production of the material, its service life is up to 3 weeks. But this is only official statistics.

That everything depends on the salon and the master who covers the gel nails. So, if you manage to get an appointment with a specialist who has extensive experience in this field, you can extend the service life of the varnish up to 1 month.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account external factors. So, as practice shows, the nail Polish on the feet lasts much longer than on the hands. This is because the nails on the hands are exposed to an aggressive environment, and on the feet are almost always in a closed state.

In addition, do not forget about the growth of nails. After 2-3 weeks after applying the coating, the nail plate grows and your manicure will not look as beautiful as before.

Prepping Your Nails

After we figured out the necessary items, the features of gel polish, we will gradually consider the procedure for preparing nails for coating. This operation is especially important, since both the time during which the manicure will be held and its quality depend on its operation.

  1. Removing the old coating and correction of the nail. At this stage, the previous manicure is removed. If the nails had a regular manicure varnish, removal can occur using a conventional nail polish remover. If the nails had a gel-varnish coating, it is removed using a milling cutter.
  2. Removing the top layer. Using a grinding file with an abrasiveness of 250 to 400 grit, the upper (keratin) layer is removed from the nails. This is done to better adhere the gel polish to the nail plate. In this case, the processed nails can not be touched with your hands. The moisture remaining on the nails is removed using a dehydrator. He, unlike a degreaser, performs more functions, in particular, not only removes dirt from nails, but also dries them.

Apply Gel primer and Base Coat

Before proceeding to the main manipulations with the nail, it is necessary to cover it with a special primer. Its main purpose is to fix the main varnish as efficiently as possible and give it an attractive appearance. If you understand this, this layer also plays the role of a binding element between the nail plate and the gel Polish, turning them into a single whole. This allows you to achieve maximum tenacity and increase the service life of the coating several times.

But in addition, this material has hidden properties. For example, this tool should be applied to people who have quite fragile nails. It can strengthen them and creates an additional protective layer. It protects your nails from the negative influence of chemical elements contained in the gel. If such fashionistas neglect this stage in order to save money, they risk losing their nails altogether over time.

Applying the Color

Choose any gel polish (or several) and boldly proceed to cover the nails. How not to climb a cuticle, what technique should be used? Modern bottles are usually equipped with convenient brushes. But if the brush is wide or too bulky, then the masters recommend taking a foil, transferring a small amount of the selected color to it and taking a thin synthetic brush. Carefully trace the nail along the contours, and then paint over the remaining space.

You can also use the strip technique: draw a neat strip in the middle, then slowly circle along its sides with exactly the same lines.

We recommend applying color in 2-3 layers, because one is usually not enough. When covering with one of the layers, be sure to seal the end of the nail on top. Just like the base, each layer must be dried in a lamp (in UV — 2 minutes, in LED — 30 seconds).

Main coat of gel

To fix the main coating and give a beautiful shine, it is necessary to apply the finish gel (top). Here you already need to make the layer more dense than all the previous ones. Then, as usual, we dry each nail in the lamp.

We process the finished manicure with a disinfector to remove the dispersion layer. Apply nutritious oil to the cuticle.

And now, your nails look perfect.

How to remove gel nails quickly

In the field of nail aesthetics, certain tools and special preparations are used to create a gel manicure, thanks to which the polymer coating stays firmly on the nails and looks flawlessly when worn. And what means can safely remove it and what are their features, we will find out further.

Protect your skin

There are several tricks, the knowledge of which will allow you to reduce time and save effort both with ordinary manicure and with many types of design.

  1. Before you start to paint your nails, smear the cuticle with fat cream or petroleum jelly.
  2. Stick pieces of masking tape on the skin around the nail. There are even special stickers to protect the cuticle — the same thing, just do not need to cut it yourself. This method, unlike the previous one, works great with gradient manicure, but takes more time and presents some difficulty in performing.
  3. Try using PVA glue. Remember how in childhood you smeared your fingers with PVA glue and waited until it dries to remove the membrane? This property can be used to protect the cuticle from varnish. Just brush the skin around the nail and cuticle with a generous layer of glue. When it is completely dry and becomes transparent, you can do a manicure, as usual. And when done, peel off the glue along with excess varnish.
  4. Buy a special silicone-based product. Like PVA glue, it is removed by a membrane, however, such product dries much faster.

Buff your nails

In beauty salons, masters propose to delicately polish with special pads (they are called buffs), which have varying degrees of abrasiveness. In addition, the procedure is carried out with various grinding compositions with extracts of medicinal herbs, as well as laser files.

At home, you can use glass polishing files for nails, the same buffs with abrasiveness from 300 grit or wax. An alternative is a special machine for hardware manicure with a suitable cutter (nozzle).

There are bilateral and squared buffs. A convenient version of the tool for home use is a buff with multi-colored edges, each of which symbolizes a sequence of actions.

Soak cotton balls in acetone

After that, you need to get material for nail polish remover. It is necessary to cut cotton pads into 10 identical pieces. Then these pieces must be soaked in acetone for several minutes.

Secure the cotton with aluminum foil

How to fix these pieces of cotton wool on the fingers? In this case, the main thing is that the cotton wool fits snugly on the nail plate. To do this, use foil. This material should also be cut into equal parts. After that, cotton pads soaked in acetone are placed on the nails and pressed tightly on top of the foil. This method will provide maximum effect and quick removal of varnish.

Wait 10 to 15 minutes

After you have fixed the foil with cotton wool soaked in acetone on the nail, from 10 to 15 minutes should pass before the lacquer completely lags. After that, remove cotton pads with foil and rinse your nails with warm water. It is very important not to overexpose the cotton on the fingers. After all, this can very negatively affect the condition of the cuticle and nail plates.
